The Harrisons are “retired” members of Wycliffe Bible Translators, who live within three miles of the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, North Carolina, which is one of the support facilities for the translation programs around the world. They enjoy serving as language resource people in the training of vernacular media specialists (training to record the JESUS film in minority languages, DVD Scripture publications, etc.).
The Harrisons continue working daily on various Guajajara language projects:
·a word-by-word parsing of the entire Guajajara Bible, as a study aid for new missionaries;
·providing language material as requested for the Guajajara Bible and Leadership Training Center. CTBCH (Centro de Treinamento Bíblico Carlos Harrison) opened in February of 2009 in the tribal area.
·updating and increasing the grammar content of the Guajajara-Portuguese Dictionary for use in schools and as resource for linguistic students in Brazil.
The Harrisons give language help and advice via Skype or satellite phone to Brazilian translators and linguistics students who work in various countries around the world. They also promote prayer and financial support for them.
Carl frequently meets with mission leaders coordinating an advance in training native people to do their own Bible translation (referred to as mother-tongue translation).
Carl teaches a Sunday School Class in Portuguese. As a result of this ministry, Brazilians have been saved, baptized and joined the church.
